Chiang Mai is a favourite destination for tourists looking to experience Songkran – the traditional Thai New Year, so most hotels around the city are fully booked a month or more in advance. The Songkran Festival 2010 falls on 13-15 April, and in Chiang Mai celebrations are held from 11-16 April.
