Chiang Mai Challenge Adventure Race 2009

Chiang Mai Challenge Adventure Race 2009Date: 9 May 2009
Venue: 700 years stadium, Huey Tung Tao reservoir
The second year of the Chiang Mai Challenge! Disciplines include biking, running, kayaking and swimming. Race through the mountains surrounding Chiang Mai. Another challenging 1 day race in the Amazing Thailand Adventure Race Series.

Amarin Plaza’s Outdoor Unlimited Zone, The Tourism Authority of Thailand and Active Management Asia Co., Ltd. are pleased to announce the second edition of The Chiang Mai Challenge Adventure Race.

Cycling, Chiang Mai Challenge Adventure Race 2009Scheduled for Saturday May 9 2009, this three to eight hour wilderness adventure race, will take teams of two through a 35 to 50 km course. The trail will consist of running, mountain biking, swimming and paddling.

Adventure Racing is a highly visual and dynamic sport genre, stretching competitors to their limits. It is a sport that that is rapidly capturing the imagination of sports people in Thailand and around the world.

After the tremendous success of the River Kwai Trophy 2009 edition that attracted 120 teams from many nations, the next event of the Amazing Adventure Race series promises to bring some fun and excitement in the Rose of the North.

Kayaking, Chiang Mai Challenge Adventure Race 2009The landscape surrounding Chiang Mai offers unique challenges for setting an event of this kind says Serge Henkens, Amazing Thailand Adventure Race Series Manager.

Located between the 700 years stadium, the Doi Suthep Mountain and Mae Rim, the course will include a variety of short and fast sections. We always strive to create something different in all of our races; to surprise the competitors says Dave Debruyn, the logistics coordinator. What we can say is that it will be a lively and interesting race. We can’t tell much more at this stage. The racers will find out on the race day!

Swimming, Chiang Mai Challenge Adventure Race 2009The race will start and finish at the 700 years stadium. Many of the activities will take place at the Huey Tung Tao reservoir from 9am to 2pm says Henkens. We are pleased to invite the people of Chiang Mai to share the excitement of the event. Adventure Racing is so spectacular! I would be pleased to use the sport and Adventure Racing in particular, to enjoy a fun and festive day with the residents of Chiang Mai!
